Characteristics
The Rhododendron yakushimanum 'Fantastica' is a small, evergreen shrub that grows compactly and can reach a height of about 1 metre. The plant bears large leaves that take on a bronze colour in the winter. From May to June, the shrub produces striking pink flowers that bloom in clusters at the ends of the branches. The flowers gradually fade to white as they age, providing a striking contrast.

Care
The Rhododendron yakushimanum 'Fantastica' grows best in partial shade and requires well-drained, moist soil. The plant does not like chalky soil and needs ample water during dry periods. Pruning is generally not necessary, but removing dead flowers can encourage the shrub to bloom again the following season. The plant is hardy and can withstand temperatures down to -20°C.
