Agave Parryi

Origin
The Agave parryi 'Truncata', also known as the Artichoke Agave, has its origin in the mountains and deserts of Southwest America and Northern Mexico. This plant species belongs to the Agavaceae family and thrives well in dry, rocky terrains. The plant is often found at altitudes ranging from 400 to 2,500 metres above sea level, a condition that may explain its need for direct sunlight and minimal water requirement.

Characteristics
The Agave parryi 'Truncata' is characterised by its unique shape that resembles an upside-down artichoke, with wide overlapping leaves that form a dense rosette. The leaves are grey-green in colour and have sharp points at the ends. The plant can reach a height of 1 to 1.5 metres and a width of 1.8 to 2.4 metres. It rarely produces flowers; when it blooms, bright yellow flowers appear on long stems in the spring or early summer.

Care
In terms of care, the Agave is a low-maintenance plant. The plant prefers full sun. It is also drought-tolerant and requires minimal water. Overwatering or poor drainage can lead to root rot.
