Origin
The Cyperus alternifolius 'Glaber', better known as the Umbrella plant, originates from Madagascar. It is an evergreen plant species from the cyperus grass family. In Madagascar, this plant has established itself in marshy areas.

Characteristics
The Umbrella plant can grow up to 90cm tall. It has long slender stems with green leaves emerging at the top in an umbrella shape. The plant rarely produces flowers, but when it does, they are small and unnoticeable. Its leaves are firm and dark green, and thanks to its structure, the plant resembles a miniature palm tree.

Care
As the Cyperus Alternifolius 'Glaber' originally comes from a marsh environment, it requires a lot of water. It is best to keep the soil constantly slightly moist. The plant thrives best at room temperature and requires a lot of light, but not direct sunlight. The plant goes well with high humidity, making it suitable for location in a bathroom, for example.
