Ficus benghalensis audrey

A majestic evergreen native to India, the Indian Banyan boasts broad, heart-shaped leaves with a velvety texture and rich green hue. In addition, the banyan tree has cultural significance and is even considered sacred. Symbolising longevity and immortality, it’s a rich addition to any space.

Planting System
This plant display is made up with a pot plant, filled with Vulkastrat and is equipped with a waterlevel indicator. Vulkastrat absorbs more water than regular soil and releases it gradually to the roots. Vulkastrat cannot shrink shut due to its coarse structure, which keeps the soil more airy and allows the roots to absorb enough oxygen.

The Ficus benghalensis 'Audrey', also known as the Banyan Tree, has its origin in India and Pakistan. It is considered a sacred tree there and is often planted near temples. It is a tropical plant that handles heat particularly well.

Characteristics
The Ficus benghalensis 'Audrey' is characterised by its broad, heart-shaped leaves with an attractive, velvety texture and a rich, green colour. The trunk is robust, grey in colour, and in many cases branches out in a remarkable way. This plant has aerial roots that provide extra support and water absorption. Mature specimens can reach a considerable height.

Care
This Ficus is an easygoing houseplant that thrives in well-lit areas with bright, indirect sunlight. During the growing season, which typically spans spring and summer, fertilise the plant monthly. Reduce watering frequency in the winter months when the plant's growth slows down. Regularly wipe down the plant's leaves to prevent dust buildup and maintain its health and appearance.
