Origin
The Dypsis lutescens, also known as the Areca palm, originally hails from Madagascar. It is a common species in tropical and subtropical climates, where it grows both in the forest shade and open areas. The plant has since become a globally popular indoor plant due to its favourable characteristics and tolerance for various climatic conditions.

Characteristics
The Dypsis lutescens is a medium-sized palm species that can grow up to approximately 6 metres in height. The plant's leaves are pinnate and yellow-green in colour. The plant has several trunks that grow from a central point, giving it a full and bushy appearance. When fully grown, it can produce small, yellow flowers followed by decorative, inedible fruits that turn from red to black as they ripen.

Care
The Areca Palm is an easy going houseplant that thrives in bright, indirect sunlight. It prefers regular watering, but it's important not to overwater. Reduce watering frequency in the winter months. This tropical plant appreciates high humidity, so regular misting or placement in a bathroom or kitchen is beneficial for its health.
